Ba Ria – Vung Tau Logistics and Seaport Association Officially Launches
The Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province Logistics and Seaport Association has officially launched with the goal of building a modern and sustainable seaport and logistics ecosystem.
At the Vietnam Logistics Forum 2024, chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province Logistics and Seaport Association was officially launched.
Based on Decision No. 200QD/SCT of the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province Department of Industry and Trade dated September 23, 2024, the Steering Committee for establishing the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province Logistics and Seaport Association, comprising 15 members from companies operating in the seaport and logistics sector, was formed. After a period of preparation and receiving interest from more than 60 founding member businesses, on December 2, 2024, the Association officially launched during the Vietnam Logistics Forum 2024 held in Ho Tram, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, with the attendance of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
In recent years, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province has affirmed its position as the country’s leading logistics and seaport center, thanks to favorable natural conditions and strategic location in the Southern key economic region. Notably, this area is planned to concentrate the largest gateway deep-water port system, transshipment, and logistics center in the country, playing an important role in regional and global supply chains.
With these advantages, logistics has been identified as one of the province’s four economic pillars. By 2025, Ba Ria – Vung Tau aims to become a national maritime economic center, a maritime service center for Southeast Asia, and one of the major logistics centers and hubs of the Southeast region. As Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated, Ba Ria – Vung Tau must lead in logistics development and actively connect as the locality has unparalleled advantages, with both convenient air and sea routes.
In response to the industry’s rapid development requirements, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province Logistics and Seaport Association was established with the goal of becoming an effective bridge between businesses, management agencies, and experts in the logistics and seaport sector. The Association commits to promoting symbiotic cooperation, sharing experiences, developing innovative solutions, while expanding its membership network to build a professional forum where businesses can seek opportunities and optimize internal resources.
The Association aims to build a modern and sustainable seaport and logistics ecosystem, thereby maximizing the industry’s potential and actively contributing to the economic development of the locality, the Southeast region, and the country.
The establishment of the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province Logistics and Seaport Association marks the first time the province has had a specialized industry association dedicated to the important logistics sector – the “lifeline” of trade in this locality. This is not only an important milestone affirming the province’s potential and position in both logistics and port operations but also demonstrates the province’s pioneering role and strong determination in developing an integrated Port-Logistics model following globalization trends.
Port-Logistics is an essential model in optimizing supply chain efficiency, contributing to optimizing goods flow, reducing operating costs, and enhancing competitiveness for businesses. International lessons show that leading port centers like Rotterdam, Singapore, and Shanghai have pioneered increasingly deep integration between seaport operations and links in the logistics service chain.
Recognizing this, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Logistics and Seaport Association is not merely an organization representing industry businesses but also demonstrates a special strategic vision, building organic links between seaports and logistics services. This is the differentiating factor, laying the foundation for synergy and resonance, creating superior competitive advantages for Ba Ria – Vung Tau compared to other localities. The Association will be a bridge helping local businesses access advanced models, combining experience from leading port and logistics enterprises to help Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province ready itself for major opportunities, affirming its role as a leading maritime and logistics center in the region and the world.
